REMINDER- Electrical Safety Check – (EICR)

Mandatory electrical checks come into force this April…

If you haven't arranged for electrical checks to be carried out in your properties with existing tenancies, now is the time to start planning for it.

The Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations came into force on 1 June 2020 and  applied to new tenancies granted on or after that date, from the 1st July 2020. For existing tenancies however, the regulations did not come into force then, but from the 1st of April 2021.

Why do you need an EICR?

Electrical inspections and EICRs aim at confirming that your  property is electrically-safe for those who occupy it or use it.

Various faults with your electrical fixtures can occur that can pose a life-threatening risk to people, such as a fire hazardor an electrical shock.

A certified electrician can prevent this by performing regular tests on different components and fittings of your electrical installation.

EICR determines that everything is installed and working as it should.
